A New Political Party in Quebec

Those are the choices from which an expected eight hundred people will select a name for a new left-wing political party to be formed in Quebec on the weekend. The new party will unite the already existing Union des forces progressistes (UFP) and the Option citoyenne.
The new party defines itself as
“environmentalist, progressive, feminist, democratic, thirdworldist (altermondiste), sovereignist, in solidarity and representing a pluralist Quebec.”
Boy, that is a mouthful.
The West and Quebec have a tradition of creating new political parties in Canada. The creation of a new sovereignist political party, however further to the left of the PQ and the BQ, has got old sovereignists like Jacques Parizeau in a bit of a huff. They fear that it may split their vote in future elections.
How cam a party be even more to the left than the BQ and PQ. That is scary when you think about it.
