Playboy Starlet Phylis Syd: Doing Edmonton Proud!

Howdy Boys, It is I, yes, the bold font emphasis [there was no bold emphasis in the original comments] on my comment makes it run parallel with your deliciously red-necked views about yet another “scandal”. I mean football incident notwithstanding, I assume my posing for a coed edition of a world acclaimed men’s magazine runs in tandem with the sickly and shocking discovery that (gasp) there’s wild partying in college. I won’t try to convince you to embrace women’s lib or even appreciate that the McGill [University] pictorials were indeed quite classy and tasteful. But just to add another fact: I wasn’t just “representing” McGill Nudie spirit, I also happen to be a proud native Albertan- a fellow hick chick- a fine Edmonton raised cowgirl who knows only too well that lewd drunken party spirit is unrivaled in good ole Alberta (need I recollect our Premier’s own gin soaked visit to a homeless shelter?)
Phylis Syd is the self-acclaimed nuddie (but tasteful, I’m sure) representative of McGill University in the recent Playboy spread (Phylis Syd is a stage name deliberately but tastefully chosen for its proximity in sound to the venereal disease: syphilis, backward. Really classy! Strippers –er, sorry, exotic dancers, typically choose that type of playful pseudonyms). She is also known as Deja, aka Patricia Nowakowska, aka Patricia Stasiak.

Phylis claims to be a cowgirl from Edmonton (who knew that there were cowgirls in Edmonton?) and to have represented her native Edmonton/Alberta in the Playboy spread (sorry, pictorial!). I wonder if she studied diplomacy and representative institutions at UofA with Tom Pocklington. With representation like that, who needs Ralph?!
Syd seems to be have gotten the impression that my original post had something against parties. Hello! She apparently missed the part that I grew up in Montreal, went to McGill. Been there, done that! She does make a good point about the embarrassing drunken antics of our Premier, but as I recall Ralph kept his clothes on at the homeless shelter!
I ignore whether the person leaving the comment is in fact the nude-modelling McGill student who appeared in Playboy. Shameless Phylis made her/his comments from:
OrgName: McGill University OrgID: GILL Address: Department of Electrical Engineering Address: 3480 University Street City: Montreal StateProv: PostalCode: Quebec Country: CA
Update: Syd proudly identified herself as a political science student in this interview. The IP number at McGill from which “Shameless Syd” posted is registered with Electrical Engineering at McGill.
The fact that you cyber-finger printed my computer is really creepy—how delightfully “george bush” of you (although I am sure that’s not a burn). First of, Bravo on deciphering “syphilis” and elucidating your readers—you can be sure the stage name was intentional, I thought it would add something to the lovely bouquet of Candy Lanes et al of the other spreads (sorry, “pictorials”). What that has to do with strippers, I’m unsure. Another strange connection is your claim that I was mentioning Klein in relation to my posing; yes… he wasn’t nude in his drunken stupor, and I wasn’t drunk on my shoot—I was using that incident as a reference to the condemnations of McGill’s allegedly “scandalous” party scene. But as you insisted, you are no stranger to Montreal’s party life: “Been there, done that” As for Edmonton lacking in cowboy spirit, may I just say that never in my Montreal party experience did I see a night in a bar end up in a brawl, complete with flying beer bottles, cat fights, drug busts and the subsequent RCMP investigations passively conceding that Alberta is in fact under the comfortable reign of biker gangs (I needn’t mention Klein here again, need I?)… If that’s not the Wild Wild West, I’m hard pressed to say what is. If my “scandalous” streak wasn’t a good enough representation of a signature Albertan spirit, let me invoke a more “politically-conservative” comparison: As I am indeed politically interested, may I point to the footsteps that mark my political path. Correct me if I’m wrong but our country’s most historically significant female political leader was in fact a Tory, an interim PM and no stranger to posing in her birthday suit (albeit tastefully shielded). “Shamelessly” Yours, Phylis.

Dear Syd:
I suspect that if you were a first semester political science student, you would have a minimum understanding of what representation really means. With a respectable pseudonym like that, you have claimed representation for McGill and for Alberta. But you represent neither of those. Just because you say that you do, does not make it happen.
That in itself is quite the claim since no authority has been granted to you for that or any other purpose. But to claim representation in that manner over taking your clothes off (tastefully!) in front of a camera requires an ego the size of the Alberta surplus.
Now, it's not a crime to have ego, but no one understood better than Kim Campbell that “Charisma without substance is a dangerous thing!” You have chosen your idol well.
[...] Apologies for the temporary shut-down. Suddenly the bandwidth ran out. This story has sent people on a frenzy looking for pictures of Phylis Syd, which is an alias turning the word syphilis backward, for Patricia Nowakowska. Nowakowska is one of the McGill students who appeared in the Playboy issue featuring the best party schools. Nowakowska claims to be from Edmonton. Luc Devroye is a McGill professor who scanned and posted semi-nude pictures of the McGill students who appeared in the magazine. I noticed that the pictures were missing from his website last weekend, and I thought that he had taken them down. But it appears that he has been forced to take them down. What a goof trooper this prof is. His website is now being mirrored at Carleton University –minus the nuddie pix. All of this simply lends more negative publicity to McGill University, which now is involved in a freedom of speech issue –if in fact they have shut down Devroye’s site. Likely, Ms. Nowakowska will not be upset at all the publicity. From the three or four students in the Playboy spread, she has been the only one featured in the MSM, two or three blogs, and she has fuelled the attention on herself by posting provocative comments on blogs. She seems to have a keen capacity for self-promotion. [...]
